This chapter describes configuration of various network interfaces available on the device.
Global
Common->TCP/IP Settings -> Global In global settings, the following parameters and features are configured:
- WAN interface (needed for/by DHCP, firewall, NAT, VPN , ...)
- There may be multiple WAN interfaces configured, in case of Split Access
- Default gateway
- The system only has one default gateway. If various routes are needed for different networks, see Static Routing
Eth0, eth1, eth2, ...ethn
'interface IP parameters' 'additional IP-s' 'VLANs (tagged)'
Virtual interfaces
Bridge interfaces
Join two or more interfaces to the same layer
- STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) - Used to add redundant links to network while ensuring loop-free topology.
Serial PPP interfaces
Any serial interface can be configured to act as an ethernet interface, TCP/IP traffic is sent over a PPP serial line
