Firmware Update

Telem-GW6lin Board Update

Check the version of the Telem-GW6Lin board, if is not the one needed. Update.

Updating Telem-RTC Board Firmware

Check the version of the Telem-RTC, if is not the one needed.(Not possible). Update

  1. Erase Flash from the Controller
    1. Connect power supply to the device
    2. Switch ER to ON state.
    3. Wait 5 seconds
    4. Switch RST to ON state
    5. Switch ER to OFF state
    6. Switch PG to ON state
    7. Switch RST to OFF state
    8. Wait 10 seconds
    9. Switch RST to ON state
    10. Switch PG to OFF state
    11. Switch RST to OFF state
    12. The device is now ready for loading a new frame program
  2. To Load a New Frame Program
    1. Extract Firmware files (Provided by Martem AS) to your computer
    2. Install “AT91 In-system Programmer” running “Install AT91-ISP v.13.exe”
    3. Specify paths to SAM-BA and bin files in “programmer.bat” file. For instance:
      1. echo Setting path to SAM-BA path="C:\Program Files\ATMEL Corporation\AT91-ISP v1.13\sam-ba v2.9";%path%
      2. echo Setting path to user files path="D:\Projects\RTU_ARM\RTU-T Firmware\V5";%path%
    4. Specify the COM port. For instance if using COM 5 port: set COMIF=COM5
    5. Specify the COM port. For instance if using COM 5 port: set COMIF=COM5
    6. Run “gw6_rtc_programming.bat”(Switches ERASE and PROG have to be in OFF state )
    7. Wait until loading completing green colored message appears
    8. Set default settings by switching.: switch RST ON/OFF state

Testing Telem-GW6 Ports

  1. Connect the PC to the Telem GW6 through port 2 RS232, load and writte the Test Configuration Setup "testgw6_3.csv"
    1. Z:\Taimar\1.Test\GW6_allports
  2. Connect the cables following this scheme
    1. Ethernet to network
    2. Port 1-RS422 to Port 5-RS422/485
    3. Port 2-RS232 to Port 10
    4. Port 3-RS232 to Port 6
    5. Port 4 Fiber optic to an external Fibreoptic Modem alredy connected to another device to check the communications.
    6. Port 7 to Port 11
    7. Port 8 to Port 12
    8. Port 9 to Port 13
    9. GPS port to an external GPS device.
  3. Check that all the leds are blinking
  4. Open TDC, export IEC objects from Z:\Taimar\1.Test\GW6_allports\objects.csv and check IEC obj. all 7 BI-s must have value 1.(or 0 in IEC.exe)

Testing Internal Clock

  1. Change the time in the PC
  2. Go to TDC, GW6 Setup, Common, Time Settings and make sure that the Enable GPS is not click.
  3. Go to TDC, Settings and click on Gen. Int. + Time Sync.
  4. Power ON/OFF (Wait until it restarts)
  5. Open Putty
    1. Load saved session "GW6-Timetest" and open (It will log on as martem user automatically, It will give you the time once you have type the password) // if there is no "GW6-Timetest" use IP 10.0.0.144 user: martem and once logged in, enter command: date
    2. Password: Xooviet0
  6. The time should macht with the PCs time.//if not(like 1 jan 2000 0:xx:xx), start from 4 again(power on/off)

Testing GPS

  1. Go to TDC, GW6 Setup, Common, Time Settings and Enable GPS (Optical). Writte the new configuration on the Device.
  2. Check the GPS green led is blinking.
  3. Power ON/OFF (Wait until it restarts)
    1. Load saved session "GW6-Timetest" and open (It will log on as martem user automatically, It will give you the time once you have type the password)
    2. Password: Xooviet0
  4. The time now should macht the real time.//if not, ask for date couple of times again, GPS sync might take some time.
